Kat teaches babywearing and is a distributor of Maya Wrap Baby Carriers.
For babies in the first year, Kat recommends a baby sling: preferably either the Maya Wrap sling or the MamaBaby sling offered by Maya Wrap. This is the most comfortable and versatile carrier for little babies and especially great for nursing moms.
For babies over four months, especially for parents craving more convenience, Kat recommends the Maya Wrap pouch.
For older babies, especially over 20 pounds, a mei-tai carrier or soft structured carrier can be wonderful. These carriers utilize both shoulders to distribute the weight of a larger baby more easily. Maya Wrap makes a Maya-Tie. There are a few other more "constructed," backpack-type carriers that can be great for mom or dad to carry baby. The brand names include: Ergo, Beco, and Yamo.
