Birth Matters Family Education Center presents:
Independent Childbirth Education Classes
Teaching that birthing families are individuals with different needs, not assembly-line patients. Whether choosing a medicated or unmedicated birth, hospital or homebirth -- this class is for you!
Honoring mothers' different coping styles and desires during the delivery and postpartum process, this class series will prepare families for it all! Empower yourself and your partner by signing up for the Independent Childbirth Education classes and become truly prepared for your journey into parenthood (class curriculum include newborn care and breastfeeding in addition to the childbirth education portion).
Classes will be taught by doula and certified childbirth instructor, Hallie Greider, who recently moved back to Fort Wayne after 5 years teaching childbirth education in NYC. Jordan Saalfrank, social worker, birth doula and childbirth educator-in-training will be co-teaching.
Childbirth Education Series
Birth Matters developed a five-week Childbirth Education Series to help women and their partners understand the range of birth choices, crystallize their desires, and gain confidence to advocate for themselves during their birth experiences.
I’m considering an epidural. Do I need to take classes?
Yes! Whether families choose medication or not, there are many decisions to be made during childbirth. Taking a childbirth class helps pinpoint what your specific needs may be throughout the process and identify ways for you to best be supported.
Why not take classes offered at the hospital?
Much of the time spent in hospital-based childbirth classes details procedures and protocols. The Birth Matters series was developed to truly teach about the birth process and prepare families to make informed decisions. We take time to explore the emotional, spiritual, physical and medical aspects which are all a part of the labor and birth experience. In addition, we offer more contact hours with an educator which allows for instruction, discussion and practice of everything a birthing family needs to help them prepare for their birth.
