The DNFW is approaching our first birthday this July and we are so proud of what we've established and accomplished in the Fort Wayne community! It takes a lot to decide what direction to take an organized group and as the director I can say, these eight women have a passion for the birthing community and have been devoted all year to providing free, childbirth choices and postpartum information.
A few months ago the DNFW met to discuss organizing community educational outreach events that would allow the public to learn more about birth choices and how to feel supported throughout the journey of growing their families. It was decided that we would celebrate International Midwives Day through hosting free workshops and seminars at the Allen County Main Library and our idea continued to grow from there!
Saturday May 5th 2007 was filled with fantastic vendors who truly enhanced the fair:

Left: The DNFW table was busy with those interested in birth and postpartum reading material and questions about becoming a doula.
Nutralite came to demonstrate tasty healthy options for your diet.
Barefoot Kids Barefoot Herbs had a wonderful display of various kinds of convienient cloth diapers, childrens clothing, natural care accessories, and herbs for families.

Workshops and seminars were scheduled in the library's meeting rooms A, B, and C throughout the day. Babywearing, Breastfeeding in Public, Keeping Family Traditions Alive, Homebirth, Not Your Mothers Lamaze, The Secret: Creating a Satisfying Birth Experience, Infant Massage, Happiest Baby on the Block and Postpartum Depression were just some of the great topics that day. The DNFW is commited to continuing to schedule free seminars throughout
